Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium
About
The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium is a historic performance hall in Chattanooga, dedicated November 11, 1922 as Hamilton County's WWI memorial. Built 1922–1924 by John Parks Company at a cost of $700,000 and designed by R. H. Hunt — also the architect of Chattanooga's Tivoli Theatre — the building seats 3,866 in the main auditorium plus 851 in the upstairs Walker Theatre. Both venues are programmed by the Tivoli Theatre Foundation, and Memorial Auditorium currently hosts many of the larger touring shows while the Tivoli undergoes restoration. It stands at 399 McCallie Avenue, halfway between downtown and the UT Chattanooga campus.
